Why Columbus Day Should Not Be Celebrated Essay

For years Americans have been celebrating Columbus Day. I grew up thinking he was a hero for discovering America. I was confused as to why instead of Columbus Day others celebrate indiginous people’s day. When I moved to out closer to the Morongo Indian rezervation I have became more knowledgable in the fact that as Americans we are not celibrating a hero but a man responsible for rasict That’s why Columbus Day should not be celebrated. There are many things that I learned in English class, from learning about Christopher Columbus and finding out who he really was, slavery, women’s rights and so much more. In today’s era, many of us even myself don’t think of certain things that happen in the past and sometimes I do forget.
